I am a Lithuanian composer currently based in Bregenz, Austria. In the last years I've been exploring vocality and physicality of sound & developing work in the this direction, whether it be documentary music (speech, recordings), work with acoustic feedback systems, choral pieces incorporating formant analysis or music theatre works.
selected performances:
My work has been commissioned and premiered by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, Apartment House and Les Métaboles choir among others; at the venues such as Deutsche Oper Berlin (as winner of competition Neue Szenen VI), Wigmore Hall (London) and Opéra national de Montpellier.
residencies and scholarships:
Most notable residencies include fellowship at the Junge Akademie der Akademie der Künste Berlin (25/26), Young Women Opera Makers residency at the Académie du Festival d’Aix, Akademie Musiktheater heute (AMH) der Deutsche Bank Stiftung, composer-in-residence with àktapha ensemble (Athens), Hållnäs Konstkoloni (Sweden) and Paroles & musique at the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier (France). In 2024 I received Austrian state scholarship for composition.
curation:
I have (co-)founded and curated various new music projects in Lithuania, including Melos New Vocal Music Collective, Muzika erdvėje festival for site-specific music and KONTAKTAS Vilnius New and Experimental Music Series.
